China – The Oppression Continues

Recent protests in Tibet, whose people have been fighting long for freedom from the Chinese who have ruled with an iron fist many have died as result of protests calling for freedom from the communist state. Now comes the Urumqi region, where majority of the population again strive to attain freedom from the government’s oppressive rule, deaths continue. Much like the few other authoritarian states that dot the world, the things that happen within their borders remain unknown to the rest of the world, in a land where not being Chinese assures a government spy or informant hot on your trail, watching your every move and reporting it to the secret police, sending you off at the slightest hint of actions not to their liking.
They aim to benefit from the money and goods from the West yet hate the freedom that often comes with it. Even Google Inc., the biggest search engine on the internet was forced to sign a deal with the government to abide by rules the Chinese government set. Seems it will take a bit more for the Chinese government to open up and allow more liberal ideas to flow in and out of the Socialist state, how long they will be able to maintain their tight grip on freedom is anybody’s guess, just ope it’s for the good of the many and not solely for the party.
