Health Care Reform – Opposition from Within
Many people have been waiting for the much needed reforms to the US’s defunct Health Care system that has notably degraded through the years. Many US hospitals may have the best and latest technology in their arsenal but access is the issue, and not many can afford it in the current economic conditions. President Obama used the Health Care system as a front for his campaign, responsible for him winning the US elections a few months back. He jumped from the rigors of the campaign trail into the thick of the recession, first winning a battle as he successfully got the Economic Stimulus Bill passed and out to help Americans cope with the ever worsening economic conditions.
After months of learning the ropes and sometimes learning the hard way that what want isn’t always what you get, the economic stimulus bill did send trillions out of the government’s coffers and into the pockets of citizens, businesses and others who needed it. The problem, the money they hoped to get rolling in and out of the economic units showed little improvement as the recession raged, leading many to label the Stimulus Bill as an utter failure. News from some of the people behind the bill itself saying that it was not guaranteed to succeed from the start, news the opposition jumped on with the media swiftly in tow. They say the money was to quell calls for reform as he took office and settled down into the White House. The bill fails and now, calls for reforms to the health care system are being raised, but this time round, it’s getting harder to get support form all sides with most saying it will again be a band-aid solution to a broken spine, so Mr. Obama is in for a tough ride for sure.
