Iran – Protesting may mean your life
In the closed society of Iran, seen through the eyes of screened and heavily guarded media outlets it seems all is well yet the recent problems that have surfaced with the elections have renewed interest in the darker side of the Middle Eastern country that has scorned the West through the supposedly proclaimed winner President Ahmadinejad. Staunchly criticizing the West for meddling in the affairs of others, he has stood strong against any actions by the West against his country, that is in turmoil due to the dubious election results that again landed him in power. But he is seen as a lone pawn in a country that is ruled by strict religious leaders who impose the law through self-appointed people working to enforce laws at whatever cost.
The country has been experiencing protest after protest, as a result of this most Western media have been told to leave or they risk death or some other form of inconvenience, the government cannot guarantee their safety should they choose to stay. Media says it is a form of intimidation, done through diplomatic channels with them invited into the foreign office through bullish means. The protests continue and the death toll remains unknown for the truth is seldom made known through the world. Using the internet and mobile technology to spread the word, risking life in prison if caught bloggers and ordinary folk scared for their lives reach out to the rest of the world, to get their fate known as the country tries to break the rule of extremism responsible for horrible crimes much of which remains unknown to the rest of the world, hopefully not for long.
